Ryan ZumMallen is the author of Slow Car Fast: The Millennial Mantra Changing Car Culture for Good, and the founder of Carrara Media. Previously he covered the automotive industry as a senior staff writer for Edmunds.com from 2019-2023, for Trucks.com from 2017-2019. He has also served as associate editor of AutoMedia Solutions and managing editor of the Long Beach Post.
ZumMallen grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and Los Angeles and earned a Bachelor of Arts in print journalism from California State University of Long Beach in 2008. His work has appeared in Road & Track, Car And Driver, Autoweek, The Verge, SLAM Magazine, Autobytel, The Long Beach Press-Telegram and elsewhere.
He lives with his wife and daughter in Long Beach, Calif., where he has served on the board of directors for the nonprofit organizations Leadership Long Beach and We Love Long Beach. Today he is a boardmember for the Grand Prix Foundation of Long Beach and vice president of the board for the Motor Press Guild.
